This was
definitely the epic Final Fantasy game. This game would keep you
sitting for hours off end, exploring your characters and
progressing through an impressive storyline. Nothing can describe
how this game captured the essence of storytelling. With a total
of 19 playable characters (14 being static), you take the
perspective of not only the good guys, but also the enemy in
countless built in scenarios and quests!
This is my
personal favorite. I couldn't find a better game. Something that
reached so far into the game's story, something that had an
explanation for everything, a story that kept you thinking about
the future of the world built within. It's been 6 years, and I
still can't turn this game off! :)
Now for the
gameplay, which was also extremely great. This game dropped
classes completely, just like the guinea pig, FF2. In this game,
there was a skill type system, but spells were learned instead of
skills. All characters were unique in not only statistical
attributes, but also their own special skills. There are now all
sorts of small technical differences within the game, bringing it
into a category of its own.
This game
jumped to a 24 MB cart, bringing a new line of graphics, which
made this the first Final Fantasy to not be based from the old
character models. The music was all great, and was worth putting
on the Anthology CD! Speaking of which. Final Fantasy Anthology
contains FF6 with full motion videos, which are worth seeing ;)
The theme for
Final Fantasy 6 is that which was used for 7 and 8 - a more
technological environment rather than mystical, which is only one
of the reasons that makes this game important to the Final Fantasy
series. To describe this game's greatness is impossible. It's up
to you to play it yourself!
